In accordance to Article 79 and 80 of the Law on Higher Education („Official Gazette of the Sarajevo Canton“ No. 33/2017), International University of Sarajevo (IUS) publishes

ANNOUNCEMENT

For the student enrolment into the first year of the first study cycle at the faculties of the International University of Sarajevo for the 2018/2019 academic year

International University of Sarajevo (IUS) plans to enroll 1105 students into the first year of the first study cycle for the academic 2018/2019; specifically, 535 students who are citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina and 570 foreign students.  In case  IUS does not enroll planned number of students from Bosnia and Herzegovina into specific study program, IUS reserves the right to enroll additional number of foreign students into that study program, up to the total planed number and vice versa.  Enrollment will be carried out into the following faculties:

Annual tuition is 6,000.00 euros for all study programs, however Founder of the IUS granted scholarships from 35 to 100 percent to all students enrolled in 2018/2019.  All scholarships are valid for four years of studies plus one additional academic year.  If student does not complete  study program within five years, the scholarship is going to be changed to 50 percent no matter what scholarship percentage student had at the start of the studies and 50 percent of scholarship will apply until student finishes study program.  Tuition fees are paid in Bosnian Mark calculated per median exchange rate of Central Bank of BiH.

If the number of candidates who have met the formal requirements for admission is higher than the number of students approved for admission, preference will be given to candidates who have earned higher scholarship in accordance with the terms of the Founder. If candidates received the same scholarship, they will be ranked on the basis of the success achieved in the previous level of education.

In the case of the previous paragraph, final ranking lists of candidates and the admission of students in the first year of the first cycle of studies will be determined by the success achieved during secondary education in courses and areas important for relevant study program. Ranking of candidates by taking into consideration particular courses and areas will be conducted in the following way:

- For enrolment at Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, achieved grades in subjects from art and social scientific areas will be taken into consideration;

- For enrolment at Faculty of Business and Administration, achieved grades in subjects from scientific area of economics will be taken into consideration;

- For enrolment at faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, achieved grades in subjects from engineering and natural science scientific areas will be taken into consideration;

 -For enrolment at Faculty of Law, general success achieved in high school will be taken into consideration;

 -For enrolment at Faculty of Education, general success achieved in high school will be taken into consideration.

Candidates applying for admission have to submit one of the following documents to prove their English language proficiency:

a. Certificate on achieving minimum score at one of the following international English language exams:

- IBT Internet-Based TOEF (minimum 70), (in Turkey, taken only from University-run test centers*)

- IELTS Academic (minimum 6.0) (taken only from British Council test centers*)

* TOEFL/IELTS Test scores obtained from any other test center (Private Language Courses or similar) will not be admissible as proof of language proficiency at the International University of Sarajevo.

Upon receipt of the "ORIGINAL" score sheet from TOEFL/IELTS, student will submit the score sheet "IN PERSON" to the ELS Director for review and interview. Test-taker copy cannot be accepted as proof of language proficiency. The validity period for these scores is as stated on the Score Sheet. 

b. High school diploma or graduate or postgraduate university diploma granted upon completion of program realized in English language  in the country where English is official language.

c. Proof of having successfully acquired at least 60 ECTS at English medium university, obtained no longer than two (2) academic years before the date of application at IUS (supported by transcript and other relevant documents).

d. Diploma from one of the following high schools:

- AICE diploma: Cambridge Advanced International Certificate of Education

- IB diploma: International Baccalaureate;

e. Proof that English language is native language of the candidate.

Candidates who hold FCE certificate with a minimum grade B2 are exempt from ELS Placement exam and can directly sit for ELS Proficiency exam.

Candidates that do not submit document proving English language proficiency will take Proficiency Exam organized by IUS at the beginning of academic year.

In case candidate cannot meet criteria used for determining necessary English Language proficiency, candidate is obliged to attend English Language School.

Along with fulfillment of the above mentioned criteria, students from the Republic of Turkey need to take the entrance exam for undergraduate studies (LYS-Lisans Yerleştirme Sinavi) and to have a minimum score as set by the competent body for High Education of the Republic of Turkey, which means a total of 1000 points is required as a minimum score on SAT exam (Scholastic Aptitude Test/Scholastic Assessment Test).

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS FOR ENROLLMENT

CITIZENCS OF BOSNIA AND HERCZEGOVINA

In order to enroll in the first year of the first cycle at IUS, applicants who are citizens of B&H must submit the following documents:

1. Application form in which applicants must indicate the faculty and study program to which he/she applies (available at www.ius.edu.ba or at the Student Affairs Office);

2. Original or certified copy of the high school diploma;

3. Original or certified copies of the high school certificates for 1st through 4th grade;

4. Official document for recognition of qualification for those who gained high school degree outside of Bosnia and Herzegovina or document showing that recognition procedure has been initiated.   In exceptional cases, candidates can be admitted conditionally, before foreign high school recognition procedure is ended;

5. Birth Certificate;

6. Certificate of Citizenship;

7. Two photos, size 6x4;

8. Health Certificate;

9. CIPS certificate.

FOREIGN CITIZENS

In order to enroll in the first year of the first study cycle at IUS, foreign applicants must submit the following documents:

1. Application form in which applicants must indicate the faculty and study program to which he/she applies (available at www.ius.edu.ba or at the Student Affairs Office);

2. Original of the high school diploma;

3. Official document for recognition of qualification for those who gained high school degree outside of Bosnia and Herzegovina or document showing that recognition procedure has been initiated.   In exceptional cases, candidates can be admitted conditionally, before foreign high school recognition procedure is ended;

4. Passport copy (with validity period of at least two years);

5. Two photos, size 6x4;

6. Certificate of no criminal record (not older than six months and only for foreign students who are doing residency permit through IUS services;

7. Health Certificate (for foreign students who are not doing residency permit through IUS services);

In case that insufficient number of students are admitted, the University may extend the deadline for submission of documents and publish amended  list of the admitted students by the January 15, 2019 the latest. First time applicants as well as those who have not applied before, can submit their applications in the second call for the enrolment.

Applications which are incomplete or not sent on time will not be taken into consideration.

Applications with the required documents are to be submitted in person (every working day from 9 AM to 4 PM) to the Student Affairs Office at IUS or via registered mail to:

Application deadline is September 21, 2018.

IUS will publish preliminary rank-list of all applicants and those who are admitted to the IUS faculties on the IUS notice board and IUS website after it is verified by the relevant University body, within two days from the due date for submitting applications for enrolment.

Applicants have a right to submit an appeal on the preliminary rank-list within three days from the day it was published.

IUS will announce the final list of admitted students no later than five days after the preliminary rank list has been published.

In case insufficient number of candidates applies for enrolment into particular study program, IUS reserves the right not to enroll students into that study program in 2018/2019.
