IUS Software Engineering Student Hava Dedić Awarded ACM-W Scholarship to Attend IEEE EDUCON 2026 in Cairo, Egypt
The International University of Sarajevo (IUS) is proud to announce that Hava Dedić, a Software Engineering (SE) student at the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences (FENS), has been awarded the prestigious ACM-W Scholarship for Attendance of Research Conferences by the Association for Computing Machinery's Council on Women in Computing (ACM-W).
Founded in 2006, the ACM-W Scholarship has supported hundreds of women in computing from 44 countries, with only three to six awards granted per evaluation round worldwide: making Hava's selection a highly competitive international achievement.
Hava is currently representing IUS at IEEE EDUCON 2026 in Cairo, Egypt, one of the world's leading conferences on engineering education, where she is presenting her poster "STEM Through Stories: The Marie Curies of the Mediterranean" at the Women in Engineering Poster Session.
This recognition also reflects the growing impact of the ACM-W Sarajevo Professional Chapter, the first and only ACM-W professional chapter in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which continues to inspire, support, and advocate for women in computing across the country. Hava's achievement is a powerful example of what this community is making possible.
The university extends its sincere congratulations to Hava and wishes her great success at IEEE EDUCON 2026.
