Šejla Džakmić Successfully Defends PhD Dissertation in Motion Control and Haptic Technologies

On Monday, September 7, 2026, Šejla Džakmić, Senior Assistant at the Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) study program of the IUS Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences (FENS), successfully defended her doctoral dissertation titled “A Compliant Motion Control and Haptic Technologies.”

Her doctoral research was supervised by Prof. Emeritus Dr. Asif Šabanović and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tarik Namas. The dissertation was evaluated by Asst. Prof. Dr. Mohammad Al Samman, Adjunct Asst. Prof. Dr. Suad Krilašević, Asst. Prof. Dr. Nima Rabiei, and Prof. Dr. Elvis Ahmetović from the Faculty of Technology at the University of Tuzla. Their academic guidance, expert evaluation and support contributed significantly to the successful completion of the research.

The dissertation focuses on motion control and haptic technologies, exploring new approaches based on unified control structures capable of supporting haptic requirements. Through her research, Dr. Džakmić examined the performance of these control structures under different operating conditions and proposed extensions to decentralized edge control structures.

The developed approach has potential applications in motion-force compliant control, haptic reproduction systems and related advanced control applications.

The successful defense represents an important academic milestone for Dr. Šejla Džakmić and contributes to broader research at IUS in the fields of motion control, automation and electrical engineering.
