IUS EEE Organizes FENS Talks Workshop on Power Engineering and Smart Grids

The Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) study program at the IUS Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences (FENS) successfully organized a workshop titled “Power Engineering and Introduction to Smart Grids” on Friday, May 8, 2026, as part of the FENS Talks series.

The event featured Dr. Jane Courtney from the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Technological University Dublin, Ireland, who shared her expertise with students and academic staff through an engaging and highly informative workshop.

During the session, Dr. Courtney explored key topics related to the integration of generation into power systems, offering practical examples and real-world case studies that illustrated the complexity and importance of modern power engineering. She spoke about the effects of generation integration on power flow, the principles of designing protection systems, and the need to carefully assess power system reliability alongside its associated economic impacts.

The workshop encouraged active interaction and meaningful discussion between the audience and the speaker, creating a dynamic learning environment in which students had the opportunity to engage directly with current issues and challenges in the field.

By hosting events such as this, FENS Talks continues to serve as a valuable platform that connects students, academics, and professionals while opening space for dialogue on contemporary developments, challenges, and future opportunities in electrical engineering and related disciplines.

The International University of Sarajevo extends its sincere gratitude to Dr. Jane Courtney for her valuable contribution, professional insight, and inspiring discussion with our students and academic community.
