IUS Presents Major International Accreditation Milestones to Sarajevo Canton Ministry

On Friday, September 4, 2026, Rector of the International University of Sarajevo (IUS) Prof. Dr. Ali Osman Kuşakcı, accompanied by Deputy Secretary General for Legal and Administrative Affairs Jahja Imamović, visited Prof. Dr. Dušanka Bošković, Minister of Science, Higher Education and Youth of Sarajevo Canton.

The meeting was also attended by the Minister’s advisers, Adisa Hota and Elmedina Pandžić.

A central topic of the meeting was IUS’s continued progress in international quality assurance and accreditation. Rector Kuşakcı presented the University’s recently completed five-year International Institutional Accreditation by the Turkish Higher Education Quality Council (YÖKAK), awarded following IUS’s successful compliance with the International Institutional Accreditation Program 2025.

The Rector also highlighted the successful completion of the ASIIN accreditation process for six study programs within the IUS Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences (FENS). The programs have received accreditation for a five-year period, further strengthening the international recognition of IUS engineering and natural sciences education.

The meeting also addressed the University’s upcoming external evaluation processes. In October 2026, IUS will welcome representatives of FIBAA – Foundation for International Business Administration Accreditation, which will evaluate the Faculty of Business and Administration (FBA) and its study programs.

This will be followed in November 2026 by a visit from AQAS – Agency for Quality Assurance through Accreditation of Study Programmes, which will evaluate the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS), Faculty of Law (FLW), Faculty of Education (FEDU) and Political Science and International Relations (PSIR) study program.

These accreditation processes form part of IUS’s broader commitment to strengthening academic quality, transparency and international standards across its faculties and study programs.

During the meeting, Rector Kuşakcı also presented the Report on Study Conditions for the Second Year of Studies at the IUS Faculty of Medical Sciences (FMS).

The visit provided an opportunity to exchange information on current developments at IUS and reaffirm the University’s commitment to continuous quality improvement and internationally recognized standards in higher education.
