GBE Students Gain Hands-On Insight During Visit to Medicover Diagnostic Laboratories

On Friday, May 30, 2025, students from the Genetics and Bioengineering (GBE) program at the International University of Sarajevo (IUS) visited Medicover Diagnostic Laboratories as part of the General Microbiology course, taught by Assistant Professor Dr. Betül Akçeşme.

The goal of the visit was to bridge classroom theory with real-world application by allowing students to observe the use of microbiological techniques in a clinical setting. Students explored laboratory workflows, instrumentation, diagnostic procedures, and quality assurance practices, gaining firsthand experience with microbial diagnostics and sample processing.

The visit was made possible through the coordination of Dr. Jasminka Prguda-Mujić, manager at Medicover Diagnostic, and her dedicated team. This practical exposure reinforces the importance of applied learning in microbiology and equips students with valuable insights for future careers in diagnostics and laboratory sciences.
