AI Meets Defense: IUS Hosts Meeting for NATO SPS-Supported Project AI4CUAV

The International University of Sarajevo (IUS) recently hosted a dynamic two-day project meeting as part of the AI4CUAV Project – “Innovative AI Framework to Enable the Detection, Classification, and Tracking of Killer Drones”, supported by the NATO Science for Peace and Security (SPS) Programme.

Bringing together expert partners from Italy, Ukraine, Moldova, and North Macedonia, the meeting served as a key milestone in the joint research initiative. Participants engaged in fruitful discussions on current progress, shared technical insights, and outlined future directions in the development of advanced AI-based defense technologies.

As a highlight of the event, IUS organized a hands-on workshop titled “AI Pipeline – From Data to Model Application on Drone Detection”, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ali Almisreb. The session provided students and researchers with practical exposure to the latest AI tools used for data processing and model development in the field of drone detection and defense.

This international gathering not only advanced scientific collaboration but also reaffirmed IUS’s commitment to contributing to cutting-edge research at the intersection of technology, security, and innovation.
