IUS Hosts First ASIIN Visit for Genetics and Bioengineering (GBE) Cluster

The International University of Sarajevo (IUS) hosted the first accreditation visit by the ASIIN (Accreditation Agency for Study Programs in Engineering, Informatics, Natural Sciences and Mathematics) evaluation team as part of the accreditation process of the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences (FENS), focusing on the Genetics and Bioengineering (GBE) cluster.

The visit took place on Wednesday and Thursday of last week and included a comprehensive site visit, as well as the assessment and evaluation of the Genetics and Bioengineering study program.

The visit commenced with an opening meeting, during which the IUS Rector, Prof. Dr. Ali Osman Kuşakcı, delivered an initial presentation outlining the University’s strategic direction, academic framework, and commitment to quality assurance and continuous improvement.

During their time at IUS, the ASIIN evaluation team held a series of meetings with key stakeholders, including the Vice-Rectors, Secretary General, Deputy Secretary General, Deans, program coordinators, and representatives of the Strategic Development Office. In addition, the evaluators met with teaching staff, students, alumni, and industry representatives, gaining comprehensive insights into the academic environment, teaching processes, and the alignment of study programs with current market needs.

This visit marks the beginning of the ASIIN accreditation process at IUS. The evaluation activities will continue over the next two weeks, during which the ASIIN team will conduct additional visits covering other study programs within the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences.

The accreditation process represents an important step in further strengthening the quality and international recognition of FENS study programs, reaffirming IUS’s commitment to meeting international standards and enhancing academic excellence in engineering and natural sciences.
