IUS Professor Leila Krivošić-Dizdarević Earns PhD in Architecture and Urbanism
The International University of Sarajevo (IUS) is pleased to announce that Professor Leila Krivošić-Dizdarević, from the Architecture study program at the IUS Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences (FENS), has successfully defended her PhD thesis and earned the title of Doctor of Technical Sciences in the field of Architecture and Urbanism.
The public defense took place on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at the Faculty of Architecture, University of Sarajevo.
Her research focuses on the identity and spatial organization of Sarajevo’s residential neighborhoods, with a particular emphasis on the transformation and functional decline of collective housing areas. The thesis offers a comprehensive socio-political and cultural analysis, mapping key stages of urban development and documenting the current state of socialist and post-socialist housing settlements.
One of the major outcomes is a classified catalogue of post-socialist neighborhoods, representing a pioneering contribution to spatial planning research within this context. The findings provide a valuable foundation for future urban studies and planning initiatives.
The IUS community extends its heartfelt congratulations to Professor Krivošić-Dizdarević on this outstanding academic achievement.
