IUS Professors Participate in EMBYCON Conference at Marmara University

On 18-19 October, 2025, International University of Sarajevo (IUS) proudly participated in the EMBYCON (Emerging Biomedical & Engineering Conference) Conference hosted by the IEEE Marmara University Student Branch in Istanbul, Turkiye. Two distinguished professors from IUS – Assoc. Prof. Dr. Altijana Hromić‑Jahjefendić and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jasmin Šutković - were invited as guest speakers.

During the conference, Dr. Hromić‑Jahjefendić delivered a keynote presentation that highlighted the mission and academic strengths of IUS, and she shared insights from her recent research on lymphoma. Her talk provided a comprehensive overview of how translational research in oncology is being pursued at IUS, connecting fundamental biomedical science and clinical relevance.

Dr. Šutković participated in panel sessions and networking events, engaging with academics, students, and industry professionals in discussions on innovation, entrepreneurship, and interdisciplinary collaboration. His involvement underscored IUS’s commitment to fostering cross-border scholarly exchange and collaboration.

The visit and active presence of the IUS delegation at EMBYCON not only strengthened bilateral academic ties with Marmara University but also showcased the university’s research and teaching in biomedicine, bioengineering, and related fields. In addition, the interaction with the Turkish academic community created opportunities for future joint projects, student exchanges, and collaborative grants.

IUS expresses its sincere gratitude to the IEEE Marmara University Student Branch and the organizing committee of EMBYCON for the invitation and warm hospitality. We look forward to continued cooperation and further participation in international conferences, advancing science and education across borders.
