IUS Researcher Mahir Hafizović Wins Young Researcher Award at International Conference in Saudi Arabia
The International University of Sarajevo (IUS) proudly announces that Mahir Hafizović, Senior Assistant in the Mechanical Engineering (ME) program at the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences (FENS), has been awarded the Young Researcher Award at the 2nd Saudi International Conference on Nuclear Power Engineering (SCOPE-2), held from November 2–6, 2025, in Dammam, Saudi Arabia.
Mahir earned this prestigious recognition for his outstanding research presentation, which forms part of the ongoing thermal-fluid sciences research conducted at IUS under the supervision of Dr. Muhamed Hadžiabdić. His work reflects both scientific excellence and the growing contribution of IUS to cutting-edge engineering research on an international scale.
The SCOPE-2 Conference brought together over 300 participants, including numerous young researchers and world-leading experts from renowned institutions such as MIT, Imperial College London, the University of Sheffield, the University of Leeds, the University of Pisa, Politecnico di Milano, and the Jožef Stefan Institute, among others.
This remarkable achievement highlights the strong research culture fostered at IUS and underscores the University’s commitment to advancing innovation and excellence in engineering education and research.
